Degree Options for Health Care Professionals

Eastern's School of Continuing Education recognizes that health care professionals have diverse and often unique educational needs.  That is why we offer a variety of degree options that recognize your professional training.

Are you...

an LPN, medical laboratory technician, radiological technologist, or respiratory therapist... who received your diploma/license or accredited training outside of a community college program?

If yes, you automatically receive 30 transfer credits that can be applied toward an associate and/or bachelor degree program.  In addition, transfer credit for CLEP examinations and college courses taken at other institutions may also be applied to these programs.  You must complete at least 15  credits through Eastern to earn an associate degree, and at least 30 credits through Eastern to earn a bachelor's degree.

 

Requirements for A.S. Degree for Health Care Professionals
Transfer credit for LPN license and diploma; accredited training/license, in dental hygiene, medical laboratory technology, radiological technology and respiratory therapy.
Credit for Health care training/license 30 credits
Liberal Arts Core Curriculum up to 31
Total Minimum 60 credits
 
Requirements for B.G.S. Degree
Transfer credit for LPN license and diploma; accredited training/license, in dental hygiene, medical laboratory technology, radiological technology and respiratory therapy.
Credit for Health care training/license 30 credits
Liberal Arts Core Curriculum up to 42
Concentration (at least 15 credits must be taken at Eastern) 30
Electives 18
Total Minimum 120 credits
 
Requirements for B.A. or B.S. Degree

Are you an RN who...

graduated from an accredited diploma program, is licensed in Connecticut, but does not hold an associate degree?

If yes, you will automatically receive 60 transfer credits for your diploma/license that can be applied toward a bachelor degree program at Eastern.  In addition, transfer credit for CLEP and college courses taken at other institutions may be applied toward these programs.  At least 30 credits must be earned through Eastern for a bachelor's degree.

Associate Degree RNs and Other Associate Degree Health Care Professionals
RNs and other health care professionals who have completed their training through an associate degree program will receive full transfer credit for their two-year degree.  They can choose to complete either a 24-credit individualized concentration with a B.G.S. degree or any major program offered through Eastern.  Note: The completion of some majors may require students to exceed the minimum 120 credits indicated below for the B.A. or B.S. degree.  Students interested in teacher certification should consult with the Education Department.  At least 30 credits must be completed through coursework taken through Eastern to earn a bachelor's degree.
